Check-ins and Housekeeping

Ground rules: Be respectful. Assume best intentions. No laptops except co-chairs and secretary. Sign-in sheet: required this week for voter attendance.

Super Quick Week-in-Review

Queer Salsa: The event went well, according to Neimy. Delicious cookies were baked the night before, and attendance was high for this time of year.

Super Quick Potential Co-sponsorships

Consent and Fifty Shades of Gray (with MUNCH): MUNCH is now an officially recognized student group! They want to cosponsor a discussion with us on the book Fifty Shades of Gray, and the issues it raises with consent, relationships, and kink.

*Vote taken on co-sponsorship. Co-sponsorship passes.*

Musical concert (with RUS): The concert will feature a female duo whose work deals strongly with queer issues. The concert would take place December 2nd, from 4-8 PM – more details forthcoming next week. All that would be required of us is pubbing.

*Vote taken on co-sponsorship. Co-sponsorship passes.*

QSA Board Elections!

Co-chair candidates were each allowed 2 minutes of speaking time, followed by 8 minutes of Q&A. Following that, the Co-chair candidates left the room, and the board and general membership held a private deliberation. All other candidates (for Cultural Diversity Chair, Social Co-Chair, Political Committee Co-Chair, and Communications and Outreach Chair) were each allotted 1 minute of speaking time, followed by 3 minutes of Q&A. Finally, ballots were cast, and counted in a separate room by the co-chairs.

Voted in as members of the new board were Ivel Posada (Co-Chair), Brian Ventura (Social Committee Co-Chair), Kirin Gupta (Cultural Diversity Chair), Brianna Suslovic (Communications and Outreach Chair), and Lindsey Claus (Political Committee Co-Chair). They will be joining the board for the spring semester – congratulations to all of you! Many thanks as well to the voters and all the candidates for a well-run and well-fought election.
