2. Fresa y Chocolate Screening

Join CAUSA and Fuerza Latina for the screening of:
Fresa y Chocolate

(Strawberry and Chocolate)

Friday, March 14th at 6PM in Fong Auditorium in Boylston Hall

Widely regarded as one of the best films to come out of Cuba in recent decades, this Oscar-nominated movie by director Toms Gutirrez Alea tells the story of Diego, a cultivated, homosexual and skeptical young man that is enamored with a young heterosexual communist full of prejudices and doctrinarian ideas. First comes the clash of two opposite worldviews; then follows fascination and understanding. An effective mix of humor and disarming reality, Fresa y Chocolate paints an accurate, bittersweet picture of Cuban society in the late '80s and early '90s, but it is above all the story of a great friendship that overcomes incomprehension and intolerance.

ABOUT THE DAY:

In addition to the performances by student dance and musical groups, the students and faculty of the Harvard Foundation for Intercultural and Race Relations nominate an outstanding artist to be honored at the show as Artist of the Year. This year's Artist of the Year will be announced in late February. Past artists have included: Will Smith, Salma Hayek, Matt Damon and Queen Latifah! Over 2,000 students, faculty and members of the Boston community attend this day-long celebration. The Harvard Foundation donates proceeds from the shows to the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children.

III- CINCO DE MAYO AT THE PUB: MENU REQUESTS FROM HUDS

Cinco de Mayo will be a an awesome event this year, co-sponsored by the Cambridge Queens Head. Food will be catered by HUDS, and we would love to hear any requests/suggestions for food that goes along with the tradition of the holiday. You all remember Fieston and the amazing spread they had, if there is anything in particular/similar to that that you would like to see, let us know! Churros, arroz con leche, flan, sopes, frijoles, you name it!

Send your requests to dcrobles@fas.harvard.edu

IV- ECCSF @PRINCETON EARLY DEADLINE APPROACHING

The next ECCSF is April 4-6 at Princeton University, after Spring Break. The early deadline for registration is MARCH 10th. If you register early, the registration fee is lower. Registering early makes lodging and transportation details so much easier to arrange (not only for the Chicano Caucus of Princeton, but for RAZA as well). Seniors, this is your final opportunity to attend the ECCSF, so please go! Also, after writing that thesis, you know all you want to do is to let go. Why not at another school and with other amazing people?

For more information or to obtain a registration form, email ECCSF Rep
Diego Renteria at drenter@fas.harvard.edu.
