"Harvard College brings
together students from all 50 states and from countries around the
world; from cities, suburbs, small towns and farms; from public, private
and parochial schools; from every ethnic and religious background; and
from across the economic spectrum. Students arrive with a remarkable
diversity of interests. They are scholars, community volunteers,
journalists, artists, athletes, actors, musicians, and enthusiasts of
many other kinds. What all Harvard students have in common is
intellectual curiosity and energy. Harvard values excellence and
diversity in the talents and aspirations of its students, and in the
resources and opportunities the College offers them." – Harvard College
Admissions
H/R RAZA dedicates a large part of its time
and finances working with the Undergraduate Minority Recruitment Program
and their efforts to encourage and assist prospective students towards
applying to Harvard. The UMRP was founded by H/R RAZA members, and
originally targeted Mexican-American students. Now an equal partner in
Harvard's effort to achieve diversity within its student body, the UMRP
has assisted the Admissions Office for more than twenty-five years in
extending its reach to students who for reasons of history and
circumstance might have considered Harvard inaccessible. We strongly
encourage you to apply to Harvard and become part of our amazing
community. For more information on admissions and financial aid, visit
the college admissions website at:

The UMRP now has five divisions that target
African American, Latin American, Asian American, Native American, as
well as Mexican American students. The program is staffed by current
undergraduates who coordinate recruitment efforts on behalf of each
division. Coordinators are equipped to address a full range of questions
concerning academic and extracurricular opportunities at Harvard, as
well as social and residential life. David Hernandez (dhgarcia@fas.harvard.edu)
and current RAZA president Diana Robles (dcrobles@fas.harvard.edu) are
the current coordinators for the Mexican American division and would be
more than happy to assist you in learning more about Harvard.
UMRP coordinators also are prepared to
handle requests for campus visits, either day or overnight, special
group information sessions, and tours. During your visit, you can also
meet with current member of H/R RAZA and discuss student life or share
their experiences on what it means to be Mexican American at Harvard.
You can contact the UMRP at 617-495-1514 or
