Clothesline Project (April 11-15)
THE CLOTHESLINE PROJECT will appear on the lawn outside of the Science
Center. The clothesline project displays t-shirts that individuals create
to express how sexual or domestic violence has affected them. If you are
interested in making a t-shirt, please come to our t-shirt workshop on
Wednesday April 6th at 9 PM in Kirkland SCR or pick up a t-shirt
anonymously at the Response office (Lowell basement) or Cabot B-41.
Pledge Cards (April 11-13)
PLEDGE CARDS are available on tables in the Science Center for individuals
to pledge their support to take a stand against sexual violence and
acknowledge the universality and importance of the issue.
Wednesday, April 6
T-shirt making workshop
9 PM, Kirkland SCR
Come make a t-shirt to express your feelings, experiences, and thoughts on
sexual or domestic violence. The t-shirts will be displayed as part of
the Clothesline Project.

TBTN Kick-off Event

Monday, April 11
Human Representation of Sexual Violence at Harvard
11:30 AM-12:30 PM, Memorial Church steps
The number of individuals who reported sexual assault, as conducted by
a survey by UHS, will be standing on the steps of Memorial Church to
show the magnitude and impact of sexual violence at Harvard.
In Our Voices
8-10 PM, Adams Art Space
A combination of visual, spoken, and performance art pieces pertaining to
sexuality and sexual violence including selections from the Vagina
Monologues, Spoken Word Society pieces, photography displays, and others.
Two speakers from the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center Survivor Speaker's
Bureau will also speak about their own experiences. Mike's Pastries will
be served.
Tuesday, April 12
HAVING OUR SAY:
An Event for Men in Take Back The Night
5-7 PM, Ticknor Lounge, Boylston Hall
An opportunity for men to discuss the issue of sexual assault, rape myths, how alcohol is related to sexual assault with OSAPR
male education specialist Danny Meyer and SASH tutor Myles Osborne. The discussion will address the above issues and will
also touch on frequently unanswered/unasked questions about "blaming" men, male activism, alcohol policy, false accusations,
etc. Bertucci's Pizza will be provided.
Violence in LGBTQ Communities
6:30-8 PM, Quincy JCR
Gunner Scott will lead a discussion and will follow up with questions and answers about experiences of same sex violence.
This workshop will look at both sexual violence within LGBT Q communities and how sexual violence is used as a tool of
homophobia in the context of a hate crime.
BEYOND BORDERS:
A Panel Discussion on International Violence Against Women
8-10 PM, Sever 210
Panelists including Mei Mei Ellerman, Alex de Waal, Susanna Sirkin, and Richard Wranghamwill discuss gendered
violence in the international community, its origins, trends, and what is being done to address it. The panel will be
moderated by Diane Rosenfeld. For more information on members of the panel, click here.
Wednesday, April 13
INTERSECTIONS:
Race, Gender, and Sexual Violence
8-10 PM, Lowell JCR
Gordon Braxton will lead a discussion on issues of sexual violence with
special attention to the impact and status of sexual violence within the
black community. The discussion will look at the number of black males
accused of gendered crimes portrayed in the media, as well as issues of
sexuality and leadership in the campaign against sexual violence. The
discussion will be followed by questions.
Thursday, April 14
VIGIL
7 PM, Steps of Memorial Church
With performances by Sisters of Kuumba starting at 7 pm and a monologue from "A Long Walk Home" before, the annual Take back
the Night Vigil will start at dusk, around 8 pm. The vigil provides a supportive environment for individuals to share their
experiences, thoughts, and reflections on sexual and domestic violence.
Friday, April 15
BENEFIT CONCERT
9 PM, Lowell Dining Hall
To culminate the week's activities, we will be holding a benefit concert
featuring Plan B For the Type As, Makoto Concern, and theMark.
Admission is $5 at the door. All proceeds go to the Boston Area Rape
Crisis Center and Transition House, a local domestic violence shelter.
