HARVARD SHOOTING CLUB RULES '00-'01 |
|||||
Any active HSC member who is a resident of Massachusetts and who intends to transport and/or possess firearm(s) and/or ammunition in Massachusetts must have a current Massachusetts "Firearms Identification Card" or Massachusetts "License to Carry Firearms", as deemed proper by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for the type of firearm(s) being transported and/or possessed. |

Any active HSC member who is a non-resident of Massachusetts and intends to transport and/or possess firearm(s) and/or ammunition in Massachusetts must either have current firearm identification from the state in which they reside and must meet and obey all firearm requirements for carrying or possession in the state in which they reside, or possess a "Temporary Non-Resident License to Carry Firearms" from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for the type of firearm(s) being transported and/or possessed. |

"Any person who is not a not a resident of the commonwealth may possess rifles and shotguns and ammunition ... while on a firing or shooting range." MA Law Chap. 140 Sec. 129C Unlicensed HSC members must always be instructed and accompanied by a licensed officer while in possession of a firearm on the range. Never shall unlicensed members have possession of firearms outside of this range instruction. Only licensed and qualified members may instruct members on firearm safety and usage. |

All firearms will be carried in suitable locked gun cases with locked trigger mechanisms when transporting firearms. Ammunition shall be carried in separate locked containers. |

Access to the HSC gun safe, located in the Harvard University Police Department, shall be limited to no more than three officers of the HSC, approved by the HSC and the HUPD and licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for firearm possession. |
|||||
Any person affiliated with Harvard University may become a member, only undergraduates may become officers. |
|||||
Neither Harvard University, nor the Harvard Shooting Club and its Officers, nor the Harvard University Police Department has any special insurance for Club activities. Members are advised to check if their student plan or family plan provides adequate coverage. |
|||||
The consumption of Alcoholic beverages is never permitted at any Club Shooting Event. |
|||||
The Harvard University Police Department and Harvard University and the Harvard Shooting Club and its Officers must be held harmless for any liability surrounding Club activities, including transportation and firearm storage / possession. |
|||||
All members must exhibit the highest regard for the safety of other individuals and have a knowledge of firearm safety. |
|||||
Any violation of general safety, or endangerment of life, limb or property, is cause for immediate termination of club membership privileges. Any officer may remove a member from the club for a safety violation. |

I have read and I understand all the Rules, as stated above, of the Harvard Shooting Club, and I agree to abide by them with the highest regard for safety. I also agree to hold Harvard University, Harvard University Police Department, and the Harvard Shooting Club and all their Officers harmless and devoid of any liability for any injuries and/or penalties incurred resulting from, but not limited to, firearm possession, transportation, storage, discharge, sale, ownership, club meeting, and/or negligence by any Harvard Shooting Club Member. |
