Agreement between the Harvard Shooting Club and the Harvard University Police Department regarding Firearm Storage.

--------------------

The officers of the Harvard Shooting Club, hereinafter called the HSC, will abide by these rules and agreements as a consideration of the storage of their firearms and ammunition at the Harvard University Police Department, hereinafter called the HUPD. This agreement may be terminated by either the HSC or the HUPD on five days written notice to the Harvard Chief of Police or to an officer of the HSC by the HUPD.

The HSC club members may store their firearms on the premises of the HUPD station in a place designated by the HUPD. The HSC shall supply and install a gun safe as approved by the HUPD in the designated place at the HSC expense. The gun safe shall be maintained and serviced at the expense of the HSC to continue to meet HUPD standards. The safe must be maintained in good condition and tamper proof within industry standards.

Access to the gun safe shall be limited to no more than three officers of the HSC, approved by the HSC and the HUPD. Access to the gun safe requires notice to HUPD designated personnel to allow supervision of the removal and return of firearms to and from the safe.

Any HSC officer who is a resident of Massachusetts and who has access to the HSC gun safe must have a current Massachusetts "Firearms Identification Card" or Massachusetts "License to Carry Firearms." Any officer of the HSC who is a non-resident and who has access to the HSC gun safe must have current firearm identification from the state in which they reside, and must meet and obey all firearm requirements for carrying or possession in the state in which they reside. Those HSC officers removing firearms and/or ammunition from the HSC gun safe must be appropriately licensed, as deemed proper by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Said license provisions shall be available for inspection by the HUPD official authorizing removal of the firearm(s), and shall be appropriate for the type of firearm(s) being removed.

Each use of the HSC gun safe for firearms and ammunitions removals and returns will be logged in a stipulated record book to be maintained at the HUPD.

The Harvard University Police Department and Harvard University must be held harmless for any liability surrounding the storage or the transportation of the firearms and ammunition referred to in this document.

The HSC will supply a description and serial number of all firearms used for club purposes stored on HUPD premises.

All firearms will be carried in suitable locked gun cases with locked trigger mechanisms when leaving or returning to the HUPD. Ammunition shall be carried in separate locked containers. No gun shall be loaded or unloaded on the HUPD premises.

The HSC agrees that an inspection of the gun safe will be allowed by HSC officers upon the request of the Chief of the HUPD, when a HSC officer with access to the HSC gun safe is present.
