TCO Conductor Biographies
Tenth Season 1998-99

Ben Rous '00
Ben Rous is a junior concentrating in Music. Aside from conducting, his musical activities include composition and playing the violin. This fall he music directed City of Angels in the Loeb Drama Center, and last year was assistant music director of Dido and Aneas in Pforzheimer House. He will continue conducting as long as the fates allow it.

Daniel Roihl '99
Daniel Roihl, a senior Music concentrator affiliated with Winthrop House, has been active in the Harvard musical community since 1993. As a singer, he has performed with the Harvard Glee Club, the Harvard University Choir, the Harvard-Radcliffe Collegium Musicum, the Harvard Din and Tonics, and the Tanglewood Festival Choir, and has appeared in the Dunster House Opera. As a composer, he has written several pieces for the University Choir and the Morning Choir, as well as arrangements for Harvard Glee Club Lite (a small a capella group within the Glee Club). Last year he served as the conductor of HGC Lite, and independently produced and directed a performance of Beethoven's Mass in C Major in conjunction with the Winthrop House Music Society. He has studied orchestra conducting with Dr. James Yannatos and choral conducting with Dr. Jameson Marvin, and hopes to persue graduate study in conducting beginning next fall. This is his first season conducting the Toscanini Chamber Orchestra.

John Allanbrook '99
A math concentrator at Harvard College, the class of '99 recipient of the Wendell Scholarship, and a junior "24" initiate of Phi Beta Kappa, John Allanbrook has studied French horn with John Ring and Eric Ruske, recorder with Brigitte Warner, and conducting with James Yannatos and Gerhard Samuel. He has recorded on both French horn and recorder for the Mapleshade label. Conducting credits on campus include among other things the Mozart Requiem (Dec. 1997), and "Ethan Frome" (Nov. 1998), the latter to be recorded this January on Mapleshade records.
