• The Hertz Fellowship is very prestigious and worth a lot of cash money.
• The National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship (NDSEG Fellowship) is also good. Doesn't require military service or anything like that.
• You might be eligible for the Ford Foundation Predoctoral Fellowship for Minorities.
• Or possible an American Association of University Women fellowship.

• AIP publishes a list of grad programs in the physical sciences which has lots of useful information. It is online and we have the 2005 print edition in Dr. Morin's office.
• The NAS published another useful book on Careers in Science and Engineering.
• Finally, if you manage to become a grad student, Chris recommends Getting What You Came For, "the smart student's guide to earning a Master's or PhD", by R. L. Peters, 1997, Noonday Press.
