Apply to UTEP

Applications STILL BEING ACCEPTED for the 2009-2010 school year.

Please contact Megin Charner-Laird (charneme@gse.harvard.edu) for an application.

Applications consist of a personal statement describing the candidate’s interest in and experience with teaching; a resume; an official transcript; two letters of recommendation, with one preferably speaking to the candidate’s experience working with youth; and a detailed plan-of-study. Candidates can also expect to participate in a formal interview with the UTEP director.

The successful applicant demonstrates: (1) high academic achievement and knowledge in the subject area which the applicant intends to teach; (2) demonstrated commitment to public service and working with young people; and (3) interpersonal qualities that mark the potential for a successful educator, including, but not limited to, good communication skills, a willingness to embrace challenging situations, open mindedness, energy, and enthusiasm. A committee of representatives from the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and the Graduate School of Education considers applications once a year.

Please note that the program strongly recommends that prospective candidates schedule an advising appointment before they submit an application.
