“One of the best collegiate tracks I’ve heard in a while, it is teeming with vitality and musical maturity.” – Jonathan Minkoff, Recorded A Cappella Review Board
Founded in 1985 by a small group of passionate undergraduates including Academy Award Winner Mira Sorvino, the Harvard-Radcliffe Veritones are one of Harvard College’s contemporary, co-ed a cappella groups. We are known for the originality of our student-composed arrangements, our poise and stage presence, and the traditions that bring our tight-knit group together. While we are a contemporary a cappella group, our musical tastes reflects the diverse interests of all the Veritones’ members. Along with current pop hits, we have performed music spanning genres like jazz, country and indie/alternative. Along with two major performances every year in the historic Sanders Theater, we entertain at a variety of events on campus and in the greater Boston-New York area. Additionally, our group takes pride in our winter and summer tours that bring our members free of charge to diverse locations, from big cities throughout the U.S. to international stages overseas.
A passion for complex harmony and musical excellence has afforded us once-in-a-lifetime performance opportunities, including booking celebrity engagement parties, performing for Laverne Cox, Jason Alexander, Henry Cavill, and hosting and singing on Harvard Campus with Josh Groban and Bobby McFerrin. Additionally, we’ve recently been featured on BuzzFeed’s Top 15 Contemporary A Cappella Performances. In our hometown of Boston, we have enjoyed the privilege of performing at the Boston Public Library, the Beanpot, and the Boston Chamber of Commerce. Our group has been nominated for a Contemporary A Cappella Recording Award for Best Mixed Collegiate Album. In addition, we have been featured on the Best of Collegiate A Cappella and Best of Collegiate Humor A Cappella annual compilation albums.
Beyond rehearsal, our members excel in a wide variety of areas on campus. Members concentrate in subjects ranging from Mechanical Engineering to History and Literature, and are involved in diverse extracurricular activities outside music. Along with doubling as Peer Advising Fellows, Crimson Staff Writers, Law Society Presidents, and researchers in Harvard’s top laboratories, the Veritones are immensely proud of their title as defending two-time champions of the Aca-lympics, proving that we are also Harvard’s most athletic co-ed a cappella group!
Above all, the Veritones is an assorted group of Harvard students brought together by our immense passion for music and our commitment to pursuing a cappella excellence. Our unique blend is only strengthened by the love we have for each other. Becoming a Veritone is a bond for life, and members keep in touch long after Harvard’s halls have been left behind.
Once a Veritone, always a Veritone.
