HWC Shield Harvard Wireless Club Bulletin
October 21, 1998
I spoke with Tom Murray of the Casali Group--the project management people. This is his project. Tim set this up for me. The guy was very reassuring. Yes, we'll be inconvenienced, yes we'll lose *some* space upstairs. Otherwise, it's a matter of keeping in close contact with these people throughout the refurbishment.

This afternoon I met with the two architects from Peter Rose Agency. These folks did the blueprints, so this is their baby too. We walked through our space(s) and compared notes.

Here's my take on it all: I think things are going to turn out all right. I like how these people take the HWC seriously and are willing to work around us at every juncture. I don't see any large shockers over the life of this project. With Tim as our daily contact person over there, I think it will be fine. And, with some luck, this will turn out in our favor. We're getting a refurbished building out of this (1M+ in their budget), we may acquire some good neighbors (VES and Design people), we get increased fire protection and security measures. Best of all, the HWC will have a home until we are old and gray, if not longer. After this work, the university will not raze this building for a good many years.

I'm headed for NW PA in the morning. I expect to be back here before the end of the month if all goes as planned with what I need to take care of there. When I get back, I'll dig into some of the messes at the HWC. There are a number of things we can do for the club, right alongside all the construction that is going to be taking place. Remember, 1999 is the 90th anniversary.
