Ray Soifer, HBS '65, W2RS in a letter to the HWC dated December 13, 1989:

['I] was a member of HWC from 1963 through 1967, while enrolled at the Business School (MBA '65) and later in a joint doctoral program in Business-Government Relations, which I left as an "ABD" and never managed to complete my dissertation. My call signs then were K1WXC in Cambridge and K2QBW at my parents' home in New York.

"I recall doing a fair bit of operating from 52 Dunster Street, using the club's Collins KWM-1 and an HRO-500 that belonged to one of the members. At one point in 1967, I built a Heath Twoer in the club's `laboratory' (the junk-box room down the hall) and set it up in the shack with a `Squalo' antenna out the window. Surprisingly enough, it even worked! The Twoer, of course, has long since died, but I still have the Squalo.

"I also remember helping to organize one of the club's few speaker meetings of those days, featuring Ed Tilton, W1HDQ, who came up from Newington for the occasion. A good time was had by all.

W2RS is a past vice-president of AMSAT and is active not only in satellite communications but in moonbounce, VHF and DX as well. He has written for QST and other radio journals. Ray travels extensively for his work in the investment field and always carries his HT along.
