David Gilmour, A.B.'80, S.M. '82, MBA '84, WQ1K in an e-mail to the HWC dated April 17, 1999:
'm
afraid that the only remarkable story I can recall is
that when we needed a 40 meter dipole (I think it was 40!) and had nowhere
to put it, we one day took the law into our own hands and sent an accomplice
over to the IAB, then the adjacent building to the Dunster St. shack, and
threw a line across, and with no permission from anyone, strung an antenna
across the street, put hardware into the IAB and started radiating! The
antenna had a remarkably long life, and went undiscovered for a long time."
