ANNUAL CONFERENCE
From the first annual conference in December 2000 that introduced Harvard Undergraduate Women in Business to the campus community, WIB's five annual conferences have continued to draw increasingly larger crowds of interested students and intrigued company representatives. The progressive theme of each conference-2000's "Preparing to Lead," 2001's "Inspiring Women" and "Spheres of Influence," 2002's "A Business Kaleidoscope: Visions of Enterprising Women," and, most recently, "Making it Happen: The Urban Entrepreneurial Experience," of 2003-reflects the maturation of the club and its devotion to increasingly broader business fields and experiences.
WIB's annual conferences also track trends in business-at the first conference, Angela Shapiro, president of longstanding ABC Daytime and Buena Vista Productions, was a featured speaker, while the club's most recent conference included Lisa DeSisto, Vice President and General Manager of Boston.com, an up-and-coming regional internet media outlet.
Each annual conference begins with a networking hour attended by representatives from WIB's sponsorship companies, and after influential talks by a keynote and featured speakers, attendees are welcome to engage in individual discussions with both speakers and representatives while enjoying a dessert or hors d'oeuvres buffet. Several times conferences have featured a resume drop and attendees have even enjoyed free memorabilia from speakers businesses, from perfume to pastries, and from beer to toothbrushes. |
