Harvard College Women’s Leadership Award

Description:

This award honors a junior or senior at Harvard College who has demonstrated exceptional leadership affecting women while attending Harvard, achieved meaningful impact on fellow students, and exhibited a potential for leadership in future endeavors. The undergraduate award is given in conjunction with a cash stipend of $750.

Eligibility:

Candidates for the Leadership Award must be undergraduates in their third or fourth year of enrollment.

Nomination:

In order to be considered for this honor, each candidate must first receive a nomination by a student, faculty person, staff member, or administrator in the form of a letter of recommendation submitted to the Office of Career Services. There is no limit to the number of nominations which one person may make. The letters should be addressed to “Harvard College Women’s Leadership Award Committee, c/o The Fellowships Office, Office of Career Services”.

Once a nominating letter has been received by the publicized deadline, the candidate will be notified and asked to submit supporting materials in order to be considered for the award, including:

Selection:
A standing committee will review the candidates and choose a single recipient. The committee will be comprised of:

All of the representatives with the exception of the faculty member will be chosen by their respective organizations or departments; the faculty member will be invited by the Executive Board of the WLP.

Notification:

Candidates will be informed of the Award Committee’s decision by March. The honoree will receive the award at a celebratory event in April.

Harvard College Women’s Achievement Award

Description:

The Harvard Women’s Achievement Award recognizes an individual who has demonstrated exceptional leadership affecting women in his or her professional field and has used this leadership position to benefit his or her community.

Eligibility and Selection:

All eligibility and selection procedures for the Achievement Award are determined by the Dean of Harvard College, the Assistant Dean of Harvard College, and the Executive Board of the Women’s Leadership Project. The honoree will receive the award at a celebratory event in April.
