Materials:

2 cups
plastic tubing
platfor
shoe box filled with
sand
food coloring
water

Procedure:

We will poke holes in a cup about two inches from the bottom.
Then, we will imbed the cup in sand, ensuring that the holes are in the
"ground".
We will fill the other cup with colored water, and allow this colored
water to begin flowing through the plastic tube.
This cup with colored water will be at a higher level than the cup in
the sand, and when this colored water drains into the cup in the sand,
the sand will filter the color out.
This experiment demonstrates a purification system of water, and the filtering
effect of sand.
