First Monday 2000!

First Monday is a national campaign of education and action about gun violence sponsored by Alliance for Justice, a Washington, D.C. based non-profit group. On October 2, hundreds events will be taking place across the country.

YHAHV is organizing events on the Harvard campus. We will be handing out fact sheets and other information during the day. On the evening of October 2, we will be sponsoring a discussion table with leading experts and activists on the issue of gun violence. Currently our speaker list include Professor David Hemenway of the Harvard School of Public Health, State Senator Sheryl Jacques, local and state Million Mom coordinator Greta Hardina, and Joseph Cheri, activist and co-founder of the Louis D. Brown Peace Instititue. We will also be showing the documentary Up in Arms by Liz Garbus and Rory Kennedy. Ms. Kennedy's brother, Max Kennedy, will be introducing the film.

YHAHV is working in conjunction with the Black Student Association and the student publication ART NOT GUNs.
