The
CYYCPERFORMANCE LOG
5/8/04 - ARTS First Weekend!
ARTS First as always was a big deal for the club. CYYC started
the day on Saturday around noon out on the lawn of the Science
Center with a brief workshop before heading over the Lowell Lecture
Hall, site of the ARTS First Dance Festival, for a 2:30 performance.
The routine involved 12 performers (largest group for the club
ever!) - including three graduates and four first-time performers
(Nan, Ben, Yao and Julie).
The routine we performed at Lowell Lecture Hall featured was
excellently choreographed by Anicia, her opus 1, aww yeah, set
to a mix of music from our standards Shaolin Soccer and
Once Upon a Time in China to Korean rap, Crouching Tiger
and Chinese Samba! The house was packed (many were turned away
at the door); the performance was well received on the whole.
The routine was originally supposed to feature long string in
the middle of the routine, but it broke literally two seconds
before the start of the routine and so Jen and Dave stepped in
last minute with solos (perfectly done). Sweetness.
Following the performance, members of the club went back out
onto the lawns of the Science Center to do teach some more first-timers.
The day was capped off by sushi dinner at Justin's house and lots
of board games.
Yeah ARTS FIRST.
